While potential North Wilkesboro Speedway buyer Worth Mitchell has yet to make a final decision, community feedback about his potential purchase has been 95 percent positive, he says.
Racing legend Junior Johnson is one of those supporters.
He says the North Wilkesboro Speedway is where racing began, and if the facility could not be used for racing in some way, it would be a sad day.
Driver Ned Jarrett says the track is important, not only to preserve racing history, but for Wilkes County itself.
It would be important for the community, he says.
Mitchell is excited about the possibilities.
He has a love for the industry and wants to be actively involved as a track owner.
It’s not as simple as just buying the track, however.
The price has to be right, he says.
