Blowing Rock and Beech Mountain kick off the Fourth of July festivities Saturday with major events.  In Beech, it’s the 47th annual Roasting of the Hog—also smoked pork and turkey available—with kids events, live music, and a fireworks display Saturday night. There are tickets available for the meal.
Buckeye Rec Center holds the Beech celebration on the 4th, with a picnic, relay races and other activities of a traditional summer festival.
Blowing Rock’s annual ‘Fourth’ celebration is Saturday, with their annual parade at 2, but the day starts early—9am—with a climbing wall, horseshoe competition, water balloon toss, face painting, and more.  Music starts at 10am and goes through the day, with fireworks capping off the night at the Blowing Rock Country Club.
The celebration continues Sunday with music at the park ending with a park dance into the evening.
For the Blowing Rock area, Tweetsie has their fireworks on the fourth Wednesday around 9:30.
There’s also a special edition of Mountain Home Music at Blowing Rock Elementary Auditorium July 4th, with Bluegrass and Brass at 7:30, with a special salute to veterans.
All Boone festivities are on Wednesday, the 4th, with their parade at 11am on King Street, then watermelon and cake at the Jones House at noon. Activities then switch to the Clawson-Burnley Park for games and music, with the night ending with fireworks there.
