Soucek Boone ETJ Bill In House Committee PDF Print

Senator Dan Soucek’s bill to end the Town of Boone’s Extraterritorial Jurisdiction has moved to the house side of the Legislature, and is one of six bills in committee for late this afternoon.  The bill is on the Rules, Calendar, and Operations of the House committee agenda, set for a 5:30pm meeting. The full House and Senate will resume business tonight at 7. On the House calendar is a provision for local bills, but Representative Jonathan Jordan said over the weekend that his House Bill 1227 might die in the short session with budget and other more pressing matters before the Legislature.  His bill would kill Boone’s effort to take raw water from the New River and return treated water just downstream by removing a key provision reclassifying the stretch of the river.
