A man was rushed to Watauga Medical Center this morning after the pickup he was driving struck a house in Boone.  The accident was at about 8:30 at 240 Rhododendron Lane off of Appalachian Drive.  Boone Police say that the driver was disoriented due to a diabetic situation, and he did not remember how he even got into the neighborhood where the collision occurred.  Investigating Boone Police Officer Dennis O’Neal said that the man actually stopped the Dodge Ram truck in the driveway at the house, then apparently passed out, and the truck continued on only a few feet, striking a deck.  Watauga Medics rushed the man to the hospital mainly for treatment of his diabetic condition, and police say that damage to the house and to the truck was minimal from the crash.
