Watauga Arts Council To Talk to Boone About Future PDF Print

The Watauga County Arts Council emerged from their meeting last night issuing a statement about their next step, but not much of a hint about their future. Their release said, “The Watauga County Arts Council Board met tonight and discussed their future at length. They have asked their attorney and their Board President to communicate with the Town of Boone representatives.  They would prefer to keep these communications confidential until an agreement can be reached.”  The email said that the council will report any action after the discussions with the town come to some conclusion. The Arts Council outlined a three-faceted plan to discuss at last night’s meeting, but just where that might fit in the ongoing issue remains to be seen.  The Boone Town Council voted to end their contract with the WCAC for the Jones House and some of the programs there, replacing their role with a yet-to-be hired Arts coordinator position and establish a new cultural resources board.
