A 95-year old man was injured Wednesday afternoon when he ran off an Ashe County road and struck a tree.  The state patrol identified the driver as Ralph Bartholomew, who crashed his 2004 Honda CRV off of Wiley Gambill Road, very near his home.  The wreck investigation showed that Bartholomew slammed into the pine tree at 25 to 30 miles per hour, but he survived thanks to his seat belt and the airbags deploying in the Honda.  Ralph Bartholomew was rushed to Ashe Memorial for treatment of injuries from the 1:15pm crash that did not appear life threatening, and no charges were filed.
