Leaf peepers, festivals, draw them to Avery PDF Print
Wednesday, 03 October 2007 22:39

The Avery/Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for leaf tourists.

Leaves have started to change, and the Chamber has been inundated with calls about the color status of the trees, Brian Powers says.

He hopes for an excellent leaf season, to peak the third week of October.

Busy doesn’t even begin to describe the tourism scene in Avery this month.

With this weekend’s Autumn at Oz followed by Oktoberfest on Sugar Mountain next weekend and then the Woolly Worm Festival, it’s already getting hard to find a hotel reservation in October, Powers says.

It’s a month the tourism industry counts on- and Powers hopes no one will be disappointed.

For more information on upcoming events, call the Chamber at 828-898-5605.
