Abduction Charged in Avery Case PDF Print

Avery Sheriff Kevin Frye has released the name of the man charged in the incident last week involving a 16-year old girl, who reported she was in Avery with a man—the incident reported as a possible kidnapping.  On April 22nd Deputies with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office arrested 24-year old Robert Collare of Broad Top, Pennsylvania, the release saying Collare met a sixteen year old female from Avery County online several months ago.  He traveled to Avery County and attempted to drive the juvenile back to Pennsylvania on April 22nd.    The incident prompted a search that stretched from Pineola, where the girl reported the two spent the night, to Ashe where she said they were headed, but they were found in Avery, Collare arrested, the girl returned to her family.  Investigators with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office drew the abduction charges and he was arrested and charged.
