Suspended ASU Prof Delivers Petitions PDF Print

With an entourage of about a dozen—faculty, students and the press, Jammie Price delivered petitions signed by 364 supporters world-wide, calling for her reinstatement.  ASU provost Lori Gonzalez was not at the administration building when she arrived, but her petitions were received at the office, and she left without further interaction with the administration.  Price was suspended her over a month ago after four students reported discomfort with a documentary she presented on sexism in the pornography industry and a lecture she gave on institutionalized racism in sports.  Dr. Price said today she might have done things a bit differently, “I do honestly feel like I wish I had given some type of warning before I showed that movie.  I didn’t know what was in the movie.  But I still think the movie should be shown.  It’s a critical, valuable piece of work.”
Price claims she has been denied due process and First Amendment rights as ASU officials instructed her not to communicate with any students, staff, or faculty, but her case will apparently come to a head Monday with a 10am meeting about the issue and her future at ASU.
