Boone Police were looking for a dark Honda, stolen from Lenoir in the area, that had fled from officers earlier, that car then spotted traveling Fairway Drive.  Boone officers turned on the car, but it turned off and was lost momentarily —that until numerous 9-1-1 calls came in about the car speeding through a neighborhood, then crashing into a utility pole, then a yard on Donnie’s Drive.  Four suspects fled from the crashed vehicle, three heading to a house near-by, where they broke in—only to find themselves facing an armed woman—retired military, who was trying to hold the suspects for police. The trio bolted with the woman’s car keys trying to steal her car in the confusion, but by then, Boone Police had picked up the fourth suspect at another location, and blocked in the path the other three were trying to take in the car they were trying to steal.  The driver, Jermaine Douglas Grandy, 30, faces a number of counts Felony Theft of A Motor Vehicle, with Driving While License Revoked, Reckless Driving to Endanger, and Felony Fleeing to Elude Arrest, felony Hit and Run, felony Breaking or Entering, and felony Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. Bond for Grandy, $109,000.  Others in the car, 19-year old Denise Kay Ferguson and Angela Lynn Calloway, 24, were charged with felony possession of the stolen vehicle, Breaking or Entering, and felony Theft of a Motor Vehicle as well as Simple Assault. Bonds for the two set at $50,000. The fourth suspect, 44-year old Carolyn Mozella Hackett, was charged with felony Possession of the Stolen Vehicle and Resist, Delay, and Obstruct Officers, with bond set at $25,000.
