An 8-year old boy suffered a severe hand injury in an accident with a mower just after 1 this afternoon.  The call was at a residence on North Fork Road in Zionville, the child said to be suffering a slash that nearly amputated part of his hand.  Just after the 9-1-1 call, a parent reported that the hand was wrapped to control bleeding and they put the child into a vehicle to rendezvous with Watauga Medics.  WINGS Air rescue autolaunched due to the severity of the injury, and met with the medical crews at the intersection of US 421 and Tater Hill Road, with Zionville and Cove Creek Fire joining Watauga Deputies in closing off the highway.
