|Leaf month begins|

It’s October, considered by many to be the “leaf month” of the High Country-and businesses are gearing up for leaf-peeping tourists.
Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce’s Charles Hardin expects a great leaf season.
Unlike the rainy weather that made leaves brown and mold, this year's dry weather should help preserve leaves' colors, he says.
Hardin expects the leaves to peak late this year. His estimate is the third week of October. Leaves are starting to change, however.
Maple leaves are already turning yellow.
Expect a full palette, and mountains full of tourists, he says.
