Sara Gruen, author of New York Times number one bestseller Water for Elephants is making a stop in the High Country. She will be at Skyland Books in West Jefferson- and shoppers aren’t the only ones thrilled about her visit.
"I myself am very excited, because I've read the book, and I loved it," Shop Manager Jennifer Pepe says.
Pepe says Water for Elephants is a book everyone should read.
The book takes place both in a present day rest home and a 1930s circus. Copies of the bestseller, as well as copies of her other books, will be for sale.
Gruen will be at the store from 11 a.m. to noon.
According to Pepe, she'll sign books and carry on personal conversations with everyone who shows up.
It’s not every day that an author of Gruen’s acclaim makes a stop in North Carolina. Over a million copies of Water for Elephants have been sold.
On a related note, Gruen will be the guest speaker at tonight’s annual Carol Grotnes Belk Library Advisory Board fundraising dinner. She plans to talk about the writing and research that went into Water for Elephants, as well as her forthcoming novel, Ape House, scheduled for release next fall.
