A motorcyclist was injured—and airlifted—after the crash of his cycle and a Ford sedan in far western Watauga County.  The 2:20pm crash was just past the Bethel Road intersection on US 321, the cyclist apparently slamming into the front of the sedan.  Beaver dam volunteer firefighters closed down the highway as they found the man to be unconscious upon arrival, but he soon regained consciousness as a trained medic/deputy arrived, reporting that the man had no feeling in his extremities. But before Watauga Medics arrived, the man was regaining feeling in his arms and legs, and was completely conscious, in spite of slamming his head into the windshield of the car.  The Medics ambulance met with a WINGS Air Rescue chopper on the river bridge on 321, and the man was flown to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment of what appeared to be more back injuries.  Trooper Searcy is investigating the wreck for the State Patrol.
