9,100 tickets PDF Print
Wednesday, 26 September 2007 19:00
The North Carolina Highway Patrol says officers issued over 9,100 tickets to drivers
who didn’t buckle up during a two-week campaign earlier this month. 8,502 seat belt tickets and 679 child restraint tickets were issued in the campaign statewide that began on September 10. Officers say more than 88 percent of drivers use seat belts and they want the number to increase to more than 90 percent. Figures show 48 percent of the people killed in wrecks weren’t wearing a seat belt.
