ASU says it’s just talk- Hickory hopes it’s not PDF Print
Wednesday, 26 September 2007 19:00

The rumor mill has been circulating about a possible UNC-Hickory.

The plan would be to start a satellite campus in Hickory, courtesy of Appalachian State University. Provost Stan Aeschleman says a UNC-Hickory is not in the works. He says similar talk has surfaced in other communities.

Hickory City Manager Mick Berry, however, thinks it’s a definite possibility- though it may not happen anytime soon. An extension of the UNC system in Hickory would boost the area’s economy tremendously, he says.
