N.C. Senator: Less than 50 percent committee attendance PDF Print
Wednesday, 26 September 2007 19:00
U.S. Senator Richard Burr has attended less than half the hearings held by the veterans affairs committee, the Charlotte Observer reported this week. Burr currently serves as the top Republican on that committee, and, while he does not have the worst attendance, he has missed 24 of the 44 live hearings. The worst attendance title goes to Senators Arlen Specter and Lindsey Graham of Pennsylvania and South Carolina respectively. Lawmakers are marked as attending, even if they stay only a few moments at a hearing. Burr defended his record this week, however, saying he will always attend hearings that have state-specific issues or matters of particular interest. Burr submits proxies if the committee is holding a vote.
