Woman Injured as Car Veers for Deer PDF Print

A group of deer standing on US 321 in Sugar Grove caused a vehicle to veer off the road and crash into a rock in the early morning hours Saturday, injuring the woman passenger in the vehicle the two were in.  Travis Boswell, 20, was the driver of the 94 Pontiac he and Rae Filsinger, both of Deep Gap were travelling in.The state patrol said that Boswell came upon the gathering of deer in the roadway and had to swerve, running off of the road where the Pontiac hit a large rock.  The woman, Rae Filsinger, was transported by Watauga Medics to Watauga Medical Center for treatment of injuries in the crash.  No word on her condition was available.
