The West Jefferson Aldermen received encouraging news from the chair of the ABC Board, Haskell McGuire, during Monday night's meeting.  McGuire stated that the ABC Board felt confident they could continue what had been paid to the town of West Jefferson and optimistic that it would increase next year. In his quarterly report he stated three reasons they felt the distribution would increase. First, was the fact that sales were up on the average of 3 to 4 percent over last year. The second reason was the refinancing of the loan for their building resulting in a lower interest rate and payment schedule. And the final reason they believe the distribution can become larger is that last year they were able to pay off a line of credit used to initially stock the store. One other area reported on was losses due to shop lifting. Mr. McGuire was pleased to report that the police apprehended all three people who had committed the crime and shared that they were considering a unique deterrent to those considering such action--a 'wall of shame,' photos of those convicted of theft from the ABC store.
