There were moments of panic for a Zionville mother just as dark approached last night, realizing that her two children were missing. Emergency crews from Watauga Emergency Management, Watauga Rescue, Zionville Fire, and the Watauga Search and Rescue Team were called in around 6 last evening as the two children, 4 and 8 years of age, were outside playing while their mother cooked supper at their Cedar Cove Lane home.  The woman told arriving deputies that she left them playing in the yard for about 15 minutes, and when she called them for supper, they were nowhere to be found.  The mother conducted a hasty search on her own, but with growing panic, she called 9-1-1 and the emergency response was underway.  First teams in the field included a K9 unit from the Watauga Sheriff’s Office, and that proved to be the trick, as the search dog located the children at about 6:40—just as darkness hit—and they were assessed by a Watauga Rescue paramedic and returned to their mother.
