Vigils Planned, Search Continues for Dara PDF Print

Two vigils, one planned for Mount Pleasant and one for Boone, will be held for those expressing their love and concern for Dara Lee Watson and the Watson family. The Boone vigil is at 7pm on King Street, where friends and anyone interested can express themselves by bringing a note, picture, etc. to place at the vigil sight in front of Watsonatta Western World, the Watson family business.  Candles will be provided by Wal-Mart, according to organizers. The two-front search for Dara Lee Watson continued yesterday, yielding some new clues, including her cell phone, found in the waters of a pond very hear the home she shared with fiancé David Hedrick, while searching continued in the Francis Marion National Forest, where her burned GMC SUV was found last week.  Divers had to wait for an alligator to be removed from the pond before they could enter, then quickly found the phone.  The rest of the day was spent searching for anything else that might have been tossed into the pond.  Still, no discovery of the 30-year old Watauga native, and the search—and the vigil of the family—continues.
