Downtown is ‘looking good’ PDF Print
Thursday, 20 September 2007 19:38
Downtown Boone's makeover continues.  At last night's Council meeting, local restaurant Our Daily Bread requested permission to build rock columns in place of the already existing wooden columns. It's all about improving downtown's appearance, Mayor Loretta Clawson remarked. "We're looking good downtown," she said.

Other matters approved last night included the Den-Mac LLC Annexation, adoption of amendments to the water and sewer code for affordable housing definitions, funding for the Jones House Centennial Celebration interview of Macy Blevins, daughter of Dr. Jones, as well as the Watauga County Strategic Community for Youth's request of $5,000.

The Hunger Coalition's request for $15,000 from the 2008 fiscal year budget was deferred for 30 days. The council wishes to examine an audit that will be within the 30 days for the availability of the funds.
