Several injuries came in late Saturday afternoon traffic accidents, with three transported by medics.  An Ashe County woman backed out of her Island Ford Road home and into the waters of the New River.  The emergency call indicated she was trapped in the vehicle, but as first responders arrived,

they managed to pull the woman to the bank of the river, and from there, Medics transported her to Ashe Memorial Hospital.  With the accident on private property, the Ashe Sheriff’s Office investigated.
Just before 5, an off-duty emergency personnel came upon a collision just south of Blowing Rock near the Blackberry Condos.  The two-vehicle collision caused two to be transported from the scene—Watauga Medics taking the two to Watauga Medical Center, seeming to be suffering more facial injuries, according to the state patrol.
