Woods Fires Busy Area Firemen PDF Print

With the clear, breezy—and dry conditions yesterday, by afternoon there were woods fires flaring up, including one that scorched a house in the Triplett area.  That fire, dispatched just before 2:30, caused Stewart Simmons and the State Forest Service to respond, finding fire surrounding the structure in the Brightwood subdivision on Morning Glory Trail, first arriving units taking on the blaze at the house.  The structure suffered some fire damage to the porch and scorching of the siding before the blaze was pushed back, and with Deep Gap joining in, the fire was contained within an hour.  Then just after 3, Shawneehaw and Cove Creek were called to Rominger Road, but there were no structures threatened at the 4389 Rominger property—but again breezes pushing the fire.  Area fire departments may get some help today, with rain expected by the afternoon—maybe a soaking rain for the mountains before it moves east overnight.
