Four Hurt in Two Head-On Wrecks PDF Print

Two nearly head-on crashes injured four people—one in Avery, one near Boone.  The first wreck was on US 221 just before 3pm as Heidi Aldridge of Newland came across the center line on 221 near the Three Mile intersection, her SUV striking the left front of the Toyota of David and Penny Butler—also of Newland.  Penny Butler was transported for treatment of non life-threatening injuries, while David Butler complained of chest pains. Aldridge was cited for Failure to Maintain Lane Control.
Two more were injured in a head-on collision on N.C. 194 North. The 4:40pm crash occurred when a green Dodge Ram pickup, driven by Keith Allen of Randleman went left of center and struck the silver Nissan SUV of Ross Slaughter of Clemmons.  The two vehicles hit nearly head-on. Both men were taken to Watauga Medical Center. Trooper Collier of the state patrol cited Keith Allen for being Left of Center.  Traffic on NC 194 was at a standstill at the evening rush for over an hour before the vehicles could be removed from the scene.
