Avery Says Goodbye to Jim Greene PDF Print

It was a sad, yet uplifting goodbye for Jim Greene Saturday morning at Avery High.  The gym at the school was packed for the funeral of the long-time WECR fixture and minister, compared to a biblical ‘Watchman’ during the funeral.  His son, Phillip, was the final speaker at the funeral, “As we started looking through the scriptures, we found a verse that really spoke to what Dad was all about.  Second Timothy, chapter 4 verses 6 through 8, it says ‘For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith.’” And in what seemed only appropriate, Jim Greene’s funeral ended with a standing ovation.  He will surely be missed.
