Delayed-Harvest Trout Waters Open PDF Print
Tuesday, 18 September 2007 19:00

On a related note, the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission will implement annual delayed-harvest regulations for 18 designated trout waters in 14 counties of western North Carolina on October 1.

Under delayed-harvest regulations, no fish can be harvested or possessed from these waters between October and June 6, 2008. No natural bait is allowed, and anglers can fish only with single-hook, artificial lures. Wildlife officials plan to stock the waters with 213,000 catchabale-sized trout. In Ashe County, delayed-harvest waters include Trout Lake and Helton Creek. In Watauga, they include the Watauga River, and in Wilkes County the East Prong Roaring River and Stone Mountain Creek.
