Yes, you could go to jail—and have to pay for the experience—but it’s all to benefit two local charities and show off the new Avery Jail.  The event will start with an open house on Saturday, January 14th, from 11am-5pm premiering the new Avery County Detention Facility.  Sheriff Kevin Frye says they will also allow the first 30 people who RSVP to spend the night in the new jail that night from 9pm-7am with breakfast being served. The $25 per participant in the ‘overnight in the slammer’ will be split between two local charities, “2012 Shop with a Cop, Christmas” and “Relay for Life.” If you’re interested in a ‘night in the slammer,’ contact Sheriff Frye at the Avery County Sheriff’s Office.
