An Ashe county family of five lost their home and most all their belongings in an early afternoon fire today.  Smoke was spotted pouring from the 1160 Frank Dillard Road home at about 1 this afternoon, first responding units from the Jefferson Fire Department reporting the home was fully involved, and a second, then third alarm went out to West Jefferson and other departments to help.  Ashe Fire Marshal Bob Davis also went to the scene and is investigating the cause and estimating loss, but it appears to be a devastating loss for a family of five, with the Red Cross stepping in to aid the family with their basic needs.
