Boone Clean-up- Less than two weeks away PDF Print
Monday, 10 September 2007 21:05
Boone Clean-up Day is in less than two weeks- and groups are encouraged to start preparing now.
The event happens in conjunction with the statewide “Litter Sweep” and “Big Sweep” campaigns issued by Governor Mike Easley for September 15 through September 29. Boone Clean-up Day is Saturday, September 22- and it’s the perfect time for Adopt-A-Street and Adopt-A-Stream organizations to volunteer their time to help clean up litter. You don’t have to be a member of an organization to help, town officials say. Interested participants may come by the Town of Boone Public Works Center, located on East King Street, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to pickup clean-up supplies. Refreshments will be served from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Town will award monetary prizes for the most unusual litter found on the roadside and streams within the city limits. Just bring your unusual litter by on Saturday. For more information and to register for the event, contact Boone’s Adopt-A-Street Coordinator Marsha Story at 828-262-4560.
