Avery County Band seeks Community Support PDF Print
Sunday, 09 September 2007 20:00

Fundraising is underway, but the Avery County Vikings still have a long way to go to get to Miami.

Earlier this year, Band Director Dee Raby announced that the Marching Vikings have been asked to play at the Orange Bowl in Miami. The band is worthy of the honor according to Band Boosters President Gerald Arthur.

It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for a great band, he says.

Along with traffic stops, kids are raising money by selling pizza kits. That won’t cut it alone, Arthur says, and he encourages local businesses to show their support through sponsorships.

Avery County Band is also preparing for its home competition on September 29. Hopefully, with local support, these kids will have an experience of a lifetime, Arthur says.
