Head-On 421 Wreck Injures Three PDF Print

There were three injuries in a nearly head-on collision this afternoon on US 421 in the Sugar Grove-Zionville area.  The crash was near the dumpster site on 421 at about 3:20 this afternoon, one car ending up on its top in the middle of the road, another crashed into a guard rail. First responders from Cove Creek got the three injured out of the two vehicles as Watauga Medics arrived, and against the recommendation of medical teams on the scene, the most seriously hurt patient refused to fly, and a WINGS rescue chopper was turned away.  Three Watauga Medics ambulances transported the injured, and the state patrol is investigating and dealing with a tremendous back-up of traffic.
