The Caldwell County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a house fire at 247 Legion Road in Hudson. One man died in the fire. The identity of the man is not being released pending the results of an autopsy. There were no other injuries and no one else was at the home at the time.

Caldwell County Fire Marshal Robbie Wilkie says the preliminary investigation indicates the fire started in the kitchen area of the home.
The fire was called in by a neighbor around 4:30 a.m. Wilkie says the brick, veneer and wood frame house was destroyed in the fire. Damages are estimated at around $120,000.
Agencies responding included Hudson Fire Department, North Catawba Fire Department, Sawmills Fire Department, Lenoir Fire Department, Little River Fire and Rescue, Caldwell County EMS, the Caldwell County Fire Marshal’s office, the American Red Cross and the North Carolina SBI.  It is standard operating procedure for the NC SBI to respond to fire fatalities.
