Tense Moments as Truck Takes Down Lines PDF Print

A tractor trailer became hung under live electrical wires on Hodges Gap Road at the intersection with George Wilson Road just before 2:30 this afternoon.  The rig snagged the wires and pulled them down from a pole at the intersection, taking our power to an area surrounding the accident, and causing the trucker to stay put until both Boone Fire and New River Light & Power could arrive on the scene.  There was no fire and no report of the wires arcing on the truck, but all caution was used to insure safety of the trucker and anyone in the area.  NRL&P removed the wires from the top of the truck with their bucket truck and the intersection was cleared in just under an hour.
