Thursday, 30 August 2007 04:42
Watauga County Sheriff’s deputies found a runaway on Tuesday- and the man who brought her to North Carolina.
The juvenile, who is believed to have runaway from Tampa, Florida, was located on Highway 194 South, asleep in a pickup truck. With her was 32-year-old Brian Wayne Lewis. Lewis met the juvenile on the Internet and had been messing her via facebook, myspace, email and instant messenger for about eight months before picking her up from her residence and allegedly bringing her to North Carolina. Lewis was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and held on a $10,000 secured bond. Further charges are expected by Florida law enforcement, officials say. Watauga County Sheriff’s Office released a statement today encouraging parents to be aware of their children’s computer usage. It’s important to know what sites your children are using and who they are talking with on the Internet, officials say.
