Water Shortages: A tune Blowing Rock knows all too well PDF Print
Wednesday, 29 August 2007 21:27

Blowing Rock is not new to mandatory water restrictions-

in fact, the town’s location caused Stage 2 mandatory water restrictions to be implemented in June, according to town manager Scott Hildebrand.

The lake feeds three areas, he says.

Significant rain is the only end in sight for the mandatory restrictions. Blowing Rock has had about a fourth the rain Boone has had this month, Hildebran says- and it really does make a difference.

The restrictions, in place since June, require citizens not to fill swimming pools, wash outside patios, or water landscaping with a hose, among other conditions.

A notice was sent out over the weekend to make sure homeowners were aware of the restrictions.

The notices worked- water consumption went down considerably over the weekend.

According to Hildebran, the situation is serious, but not critical.
