The Boone Police Department would like to welcome its newest Officer “Recon”.  Recon is a one year old Labrador Retriever that was adopted from the Watauga County Humane Society and specifically trained for the purpose of drug detection.  Recon will be assigned to the School Resource Officer Bradley Swift

and will be utilized at the Watauga County High School and Hardin Park Elementary.  “Recon” will be working daily with SRO Swift to aggressively deter drugs on school campus.  “Recon” will also be used in other areas such as working with special needs students and in the future he will be trained in search and rescue.
Funding for “Recon” was generously provided by “Friends of Watauga”.
