Two Jeeps, Light Poles Tangle PDF Print

Two Jeeps and a light pole became entangled in a Highway 105 wreck in Boone this afternoon.  Boone Police say both Jeeps were heading into town when the 1:40pm accident occurred—possibly blamed on mechanical failure in one of the Jeeps. That driver clipped the other jeep as he lost control—witnesses describing the Jeep careening out of control—maybe even accelerating.  After it clipped the back of the other Jeep, it crossed the oncoming lanes—miraculously while no other traffic was in the way—then it clipped and one light pole and climbed another before coming to rest off the road on the property of Heritage Court.  The driver of the out of control Jeep was transported by Watauga Medics to be checked out at Watauga Medical Center.  He reportedly told police that he was on his way to Ross Chrysler to have a mechanical problem checked out when the accident occurred.  He almost made it, as the dealership was the next lot.  Boone Police are sorting out whether charges will come from the wreck.
