There are just over three days to file for municipal elections in Watauga County—the deadline noon on Friday—and after a rush of filings at the opening, a trickle of candidates have filed since.  Yesterday, Seven Devils had its first filing when incumbent Bob Dodson filed just before noon to return to his council seat. Friday, Alan Holcombe filed to return to the Beech Mountain Town Council and Phillip Pickett filed for the seat he currently holds on the Blowing Rock Town Board.  Last Tuesday, J.B. Lawrence filed for reelection as mayor of Blowing Rock, while incumbent Albert Yount was the first to file for the fall elections, seeking to return to his council seat in Blowing Rock.  Boone has the lone newcomer, so far, with Allan Scherlen filing for Town Council, along with incumbents Lynne Mason and Andy Ball.
Beech Mountain has three council seats open, two in Blowing Rock plus the Mayor, three seats in Boone and three in the town of Seven Devils.  The election is November 8th.
