Almost 2,000 Appalachian State University freshmen are making their way to Boone today- and the town is quickly adapting.
Even Boone Police Department is taking a few extra precautions, Chief Bill Post says.
He promises extra patrols tonight.
Increased traffic, however, is another issue entirely.
While volunteers are assisting in making the move-in easier for freshmen and parents on campus, the Appal-cart system should help transport parents to and from parking lots. It’s still going to be a congested day, however, and University officials want to encourage you to use back roads and adjust your travel times accordingly.
