Record Heat still making Headlines PDF Print
Thursday, 16 August 2007 20:00

The heat wave is still making statewide headlines.

Yesterday marked the 7th record breaking day at Grandfather Mountain. Watauga County is in severe drought and, for Boone, that could mean mandatory water conservation in the near future, Public Works’ Rick Miller says. While water conservation is still voluntary, it is strongly encouraged by town officials who fear the high temperatures and continued lack of rainfall may lead to a shortage.  Watauga County Schools in particular are feeling the heat. Once again, elementary and middle schools will close at 12:30 and the high school at 1:30 today.
