The issue is trying to do business while thirty thousand football fans are looking for a parking spot for a game three blocks away.  That’s what Boone downtown businesses face a half dozen times each fall, and that was the first major item on Boone Town Council’s agenda last night, with a public hearing on the effectiveness of the Game-Day and Saturday parking plans implemented this past year.

Merchant Bob Meyer of Doe Ridge Pottery told the Council he thought last year's plan worked well and that he hoped the two-hour limit could be maintained to allow shopping and dining. Meyer was one of five people spoke, all of whom were supportive of the parking plan council had implemented for Saturdays and Game Days. Council member, Lynn Mason, thanked the people who spoke during the public hearing and shared that the purpose of the public hearing was to help the Town Council fine tune what they did last year.
