We now know more of the story of the rescue of a woman from her burning home early yesterday morning in the Big Horse Creek area of Ashe. The daughter of the woman saved from the fire wrote to report that her mother was saved by Ricky Davis, a neighbor returning home from work at about midnight Tuesday, spotting the fire at the rear of the three-story farmhouse.  Davis reportedly kicked in the front door of the house, got the woman from the house just as windows blew out of the house, then called 9-1-1.  The fire burned right where the propane tanks were located just behind the house.  Four departments from Ashe and southside Virginia battled the blaze at the Ripshin Road house, and had to return twice yesterday to put out hot spots.
