Samaritan's Purse is sending crews to help Alabamians recover from killer storms that ripped through the state. The international Christian relief organization has teams of disaster relief experts en route to Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Cullman, Ala., from its U.S. Disaster Relief headquarters in N.C.

"When people lose everything to a tornado, flood or hurricane, it is overwhelming. Even in a country like ours, we can't just depend on the government to come in and fix everything. As Christians, we are called to help our neighbors in distress," said Franklin Graham, president and CEO of Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Samaritan's Purse has also dispatched one of its Disaster Relief Units - tractor-trailers stocked with emergency supplies and tools that are ready to roll whenever disaster strikes. The relief unit will function as a self-supporting operations center for volunteers and staff.
The organization is calling for volunteers to join its disaster relief teams to help clean up debris and make emergency repairs on houses. Samaritan's Purse has a network of thousands of volunteers who have experience responding to storms like this.
