Holiday Weekend Gas Prices Down? PDF Print

Easter weekend, and gas prices are—down?  Well, somewhat.  Stations in the High Country began to back off a few cents a gallon earlier this week, and now at Good Friday, our BP Barometer is showing a two-cent per gallon decrease, to $3.67.9.

Other stations around the high country backed off to $3.64.9 in what is a reversal of usual trends in gas pricing.  It might have something to do with President Obama calling for a Justice Department probe to examine the role of "traders and speculators" in oil markets and how they contribute to high gasoline prices. Speculation about North Africa conflicts disrupting oil have contributed to major spikes in crude prices for months.
