Gas Goes Up... PDF Print

Our BP Barometer shows gas is up another 2 cents this morning across the street, now at $3.59.9, and that equals bumps at other stations that started earlier in the week. While we hear of unrest in Libya as reason for the gas spikes since mid-winter, numerous reports show that the US ultimately gets very little oil from Libya, and that the conflict should have little impact on our gas supply.  The Bloomberg report points to other economic factors in the 28% rise in crude oil prices over the past year, even while domestic stockpiles remain steady.  Others, commenting to point to oil companies taking the opportunity of the conflict to raise prices.
