Safe Kids Watauga County wants to remind parents and caregivers that Medications ARE NOT candy and very POISONOUS to children and teens. Please take time to go to talk to children and educate them that medications look like many forms of candy but can be very dangerous if they eat or swallow them. PLEASE keep prescription medications in a safe secured area away from pre-teen and teen-aged children. Unfortunately, many children learn to experiment with medications that are prescribed for adults and older adults causing sickness and poisonings. Take time this week to make sure all household items for cleaning have tight lids and are in the labeled containers. Join us May 14 with the Town of Boone in a Drug Take Back event to stop poisoning our water. Look for more information on the River Keepers and Town of Boone websites.
