A 36-year-old Caldwell County man died in a house fire Saturday night, in spite of being pulled from the house by firemen. Paul Francis Dula, Jr. of Gamewell was rushed from his 352 North Fairview Drive Gamewell residence after the 8:30pm fire call, and died at Caldwell Memorial at about 9 Saturday night.

Fire Marshal/Emergency Management Coordinator Robbie Wilkie says the fire started on the stove in the kitchen of the single story, wood-frame house. Mr. Dula lived at the home with his father and brother but was the only one in the home at the time of the fire.
The American Red Cross is assisting remaining family members with housing.
According to Caldwell authorities, agencies responding to the fire include Caldwell County Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Office, Caldwell County EMS, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, Gamewell Fire Department, Lenoir Fire Department, Valmead Fire Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
