On Friday, February 18th,Deputies from the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance on Frank Hodges Dr. in Sugar Grove, NC and later found items consistent with manufacturing of methamphetamine. After completing the call on Frank Hodges Dr. deputies cleared but were later recalled by the home owner because they found several items underneath the house at the door of the crawl space they believed were used to manufacture narcotics. Detectives from the Watauga County Special Operations Unit were called to the scene and confirmed the items were consistent with those used to manufacture methamphetamine in a clandestine laboratory. The items were disposed of, per a search warrant and destruction order signed by a Superior Court Judge, by a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) contracted hazardous materials cleanup crew.
At this time no one has been charged but the investigation is still underway and arrests are expected soon.
