2 High Country Teams, 2 days, 2 films PDF Print
Thursday, 02 August 2007 20:00

The 48-hour Film Project in Greensboro starts this evening- and the High Country has two teams competing.

Teams have two days to write, produce and edit a 7 minute film. According to team leader and local producer Dave DiVerniero, until the 7 p.m Kick-off., teams will not even know their film’s subject.

Teams draw randomly from themes like comedy, musical, children's film and horror. That way, they can't prepare in advance.

This is DiVerniero’s second year competing at the festival. DiVerniero’s production company, Curiosity Productions, is about to release its first feature film, The Collegiate Handbook. That project gave him an excellent talent pool to draw on for the festival.

When you find a cast and crew that you work well with- you're inclined to want to keep them around, he said.

A second team, led by Appalachian State University graduate Scott Hathaway, is also competing from the High Country. The winner of the competition not only gets new lighting equipment for future productions, but a chance to take on the national competition.
